Who ships fragrance in a mailer
Independent perfumers, niche fragrance houses and body mist brands are our main perfume buyers. Most sell online and ship one or two bottles per order.
Candle and home scent brands also use these boxes for room sprays and reed diffuser refills. The insert simply changes to suit the bottle.
Resellers who split larger bottles into travel sprays order them too. A neat branded box makes a small decant feel like a real purchase.
Wedding and event planners sometimes order small runs for guest gifts. A short message printed inside the lid suits that kind of order.
Some brands use one perfume mailer for the full bottle and a separate box for samples. Our cosmetic shipping boxes suit mixed beauty orders that include lotion or makeup alongside a scent.
Why the insert matters more than the box
Glass bottles are heavy for their size. If one can slide, it knocks the side wall with every bump in the delivery van.
A fitted insert holds the bottle by its shoulders and base. The cap points the same way every time, so the first view is the front label.
We cut inserts from paperboard or corrugated. Paperboard looks cleaner and can be printed, while corrugated gives more cushion for heavy flacons.
Send us the bottle, or its exact height, width, depth and cap size. Unusual shapes like spheres or faceted glass need a sample to get the cradle right.
Matching the build to the bottle
Bottle weight and price point decide most of the build. The table shows how buyers usually match the two.
If you are unsure, start with the middle row. It covers the most common 50 ml and 100 ml bottles.
Box size follows the insert, not the other way round. We add a little clearance above the cap so the lid closes without pressing on it.
Our mailer box sizes guide explains how inside dimensions are measured. It helps when you compare our proof with a box you already use.
A tight fit also keeps the outer box small. Smaller parcels are cheaper for you to post and easier for customers to store.
| Bottle | Suggested build | Insert |
|---|---|---|
| Travel spray, 5–15 ml | 18–24 pt SBS paperboard mailer | Paperboard slot |
| Standard 30–100 ml | E-flute corrugated, tuck front | Printed paperboard cradle |
| Heavy flacon or 100 ml plus | B-flute corrugated | Corrugated cradle with base lift |
| Gift set with lotion | E-flute with two-cavity insert | Shaped cavities per item |
| Luxury launch edition | Rigid chipboard mailer | Wrapped board cradle |
Rigid perfume mailers for launch editions
A rigid mailer is made from thick chipboard wrapped in printed paper. It feels solid in the hand and does not flex when lifted.
Brands use rigid builds for a debut scent, a limited batch or press kits sent to reviewers. Customers often keep the box afterward.
Rigid mailers cost more per unit and take more space in your stockroom. Most brands use them for a small run and keep corrugated for daily orders.

Printing that suits a scent
Fragrance packaging sells a mood before the customer smells anything. Your box color, texture and type do that job at the door.
Soft-touch lamination pairs well with warm, woody or evening scents. Gloss suits fresh, citrus and summer lines.
Foil stamping on a perfume name is a classic touch. Gold reads warm and traditional, while silver or holographic foil feels modern.
Let the color follow the juice. A pale pink box hints at a floral, deep green suggests something herbal, and black or navy reads as an evening scent.
If you sell several scents, keep one box design and change a printed band or sticker per scent. One print run then covers the whole range.
Our printing and finishes guide shows how each effect looks on board. Pick one hero accent so the bottle stays the star.
Steps to order perfume mailers
This is the order of decisions that saves the most back and forth.
You can also sketch the layout yourself first. Our online box design page lets you place a logo and pick colors before we refine it.
- Measure the bottle with its cap on, or post us a sample.
- Decide if the order ships one bottle or a set.
- Choose corrugated or rigid based on bottle weight.
- Pick an insert material and how many cavities you need.
- Send logo, scent names and any notes copy for the lid.
- Review the free proof with the insert drawn in place.
Packing a bottle so it stays put
Check the cap is tight before packing. A loose cap is the most common reason a customer finds a damp insert.
Many brands seal each bottle in a small clear bag before it goes into the cradle. It keeps any residue off the printed board.
Close the tuck front fully and add a round sticker over the seam. It holds the lid during sorting and looks finished on arrival.
Avoid adding loose filler on top of a fitted insert. Pressure on the cap can push the bottle against the lid.
Test a packed box before a big launch. Shake it gently and listen for movement, then adjust the insert on the next proof if anything rattles.
Keep packed orders upright on your shelf until pickup. It stops the bottle resting on its cap for days in a pile.
Extras that sit well beside a bottle
Small additions turn a single bottle order into a fuller experience. These fit easily into a two-cavity insert or a slot in the lid.
Ask us to add a cavity or a card slot when you request your quote.
Keep extras light and flat where you can. Every added item should have its own place in the insert, or it will move around in transit.
Samples are a smart way to sell the next bottle. A customer who likes one scent often tries a second when a vial sits beside it.
- Paper scent strips with your logo.
- A folded card listing top, heart and base notes.
- Two or three sample vials of other scents.
- A thank you note signed by the perfumer.
- A discount code card for the next order.
Designing the inside of the lid
The inside of the lid is the first thing seen after the box opens. It is a good place for the scent story or the perfumer's signature.
Keep inside text short and set it well clear of the folds. A single line printed large reads better than a paragraph in small type.
Inside print also helps when a bottle is a gift. The receiver learns the brand even if the receipt stays with the buyer.
If you want a sense of how the reveal plays out, our guide to the unboxing experience walks through each layer.
Timing, delivery and returns
Every perfume mailer starts with a free digital proof that shows the insert in place. You can revise it as many times as you need.
After approval, we print in 4–6 business days and the flat boxes reach you in 2–3 business days. Delivery is free across the US, UK, Canada and Australia.
Crushed carton or wrong print? Report it within 10 days for a reprint or refund under our return and reprint policy.
Plan your launch date backward from these times. Leave a few spare days for proofing if the insert is a new shape.
